Chinese martial art is called Wu Shu or Kung Fu in Chinese. It is the proper term for all the martial arts styles in China . It has been practiced in China for thousands of years. Wu Shu consists of tens of thousands of different External and Internal styles including both bare hands and weapons. Some of the well known external styles are Shaolinquan, Chaquan, Hongquan, Fanziquan and many others. The well known internal styles are Taichi, Bagua, Xinggi, and Water style. Wu Shu has become a popular international sport that people around world can learn and practice to attain its inherent benefits. Aside from a means of self-defense, Wu Shu has also been developed into a sport capable of improving a participant's health and fitness, while improving their reaction time, jumping ability, balance, flexibility, coordination, power, and speed. Even athletes from other sport fields like to practice Wu Shu to complement their physical pursuits and to improve the quality of their performance. Today, Wu Shu is also a performing art. The performance of a superb Wu Shu participant can captivate and mesmerize an audience.
Instructor: Jason Wang (Chinese Martial Art Master)
Jason Wang started to learn and to practice Chinese martial art (Wu Shu) at age 6. He has won more than 50 medals, including 19 medals of the city championship, 8 medals from the provincial championships, and he was 2nd runner-up in the whole China . Jason Wang is an expert with knives, guns, swords, sticks and the practice of Changquan, Nanquan, Tai Chi, and other traditional martial arts such as Chinese boxing. He also has given many performances at home and abroad. Recently he gave performances at UBC, SFU and the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Vancouver .
In 2007, Jason Wang was chosen to represent Canada to attend the Chinese martial art competition of global finals in Beijing , China . The program was call the “The descendents of the Dragon” It was organized by the international famous Chinese martial art master and actor Jackie Chan at Chinese Central Television Station.
